San Francisco’s Chinatown is known to be the biggest Chinatown in the United States, also housing the largest Chinese community outside of China. Despite the fact that it’s within the confines of San Francisco, Chinatown has it’s own character. It surronds North Beach and Telegraph Hill, with 300 restaurants inhabiting its quarters. Its infamous for even being visited more than the Golden Gate Bridge.
Pier 39, built on October 4, 1978, is a tourist mecca in San Francisco, attracting tourists far and wide to visit this pristine waterfront monument. In Pier 39, there are various shops, restaurants, arcades, street performances, and The Aquarium of the Bay with sea lions to name a few. Pier 39 is located at the edge of Fisherman’s Wharf which borders North Beach, Chinatown, and the Embarcadero. From the pier you can see Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and the Bay Bridge.
